Property Tax Exemption
Under Texas Tax Code Section 11.27, the added home value from a solar energy system is fully exempt from property taxes statewide. This means that even as your home's value increases from the solar installation, your property tax bill is not affected.
To apply for this exemption, homeowners must file the appropriate form with their local appraisal district. The exemption applies to solar and wind-powered energy devices installed on a property you own.
